Frequently Asked Questions

How Does It Work? On your puppy's go-home date at 8 weeks of age, I will pick them from Bunjiland and ensure they're comfy on the drive home. Your puppy will spend 1-2 days settling in and getting to know my home and my family at a pace the puppy is happy with. Once your puppy feels completely comfortable, we will dive into socialization and training, which will continue until the end of the program. At the end of the program, you will be responsible for getting your puppy home. You and I will do an in-person training session if you're picking up your puppy, or a virtual training session if you need to meet at the airport, or if you're using a Bunji Stork. After the program, I will continue to be available to you to ensure a smooth transition!

What Is The Cost? The cost for Puppy Head Start is $95/day or $600/week. There are no additional charges, I will provide everything they will need during the program. The only exception is if you are wanting me to feed them a food other than Life's Abundance, I will need you to provide the food.

How Many Weeks Should I Apply For? Here's a good idea of what to expect, keeping in mind that your puppy is an individual and will learn/develop at their own pace.

2-3 Week Program - You are extremely eager to get your puppy home, but you still want a little bit of extra help! You are ready to do the bulk of potty training, crate training, and socialization on your own. You are excited for your puppy to get off to a good start with me, and you know I will be a supportive resource to help you through the work you do with your puppy at home.

3-4 Week Program - You are pretty eager to get your puppy home, and you'd also like to move some work off your plate. You're excited that I will be taking the bulk of crate training off your plate, as well as a significant amount of potty training and socialization. You're glad I will continue to be a resource to you once your puppy goes home and you continue training with them.

4-6 Week Program: You are eager to get your puppy home, but your focus is getting a significant amount of training done at Puppy Head Start. You're hoping the puppy will be fully crate trained at the end of the program, and that they will be far along their potty training and socialization journeys. You'd like your puppy to have a couple of cues under their belt like "sit," "down," and "come," and it would be nice if they had some leash skills too. You're glad I'll continue being a resource for you after your puppy goes home, and you're very glad for the extra room on your plate.

What Will My Puppy Learn? In Puppy Head Start, my priorities are socialization, potty training, crate training, and confidence-building. I'm always happy to hear from you if there are specific skills you want me to focus on. My number one goal is to set your puppy up for success in whatever training you'd like to do with them, by giving them the tools to be stable and confident dogs.

My online training program, Bunji Basics, is included with Puppy Head Start. This allows you to follow along with the training I'll be doing with your puppy, and it will also help you continue training after your puppy comes home!

Will I Get Pictures and Updates? Absolutely! I will share an album with you in Google Photos where Scott and I will put all our pictures and videos of your puppy. Scott LOVES to take pictures and videos, and he's amazing at getting candid shots with his high quality camera.

You are also welcome to text or email me anytime, as often as you'd like. My goal is that you can be exactly as involved as you want to be! Whether that means getting a weekly check-in, or whether it means chit-chatting all day long, I will happily accommodate you.

If I'm Local, Can I Meet My Puppy? Yes! Just ask, and we'll coordinate.

How Will My Puppy Get Home? You can pick your puppy up at my home in Lowell, Michigan; I can meet you at the Grand Rapids airport; or, you can book a Bunji Stork with Jen or Cathy at Bunji Australian Labradoodles. If you are using a stork, let them know the date your Puppy Head Start program ends, and they will coordinate with me to pick up your puppy.

I Don't See The Answer To My Question! Send me an email at bunjidogtraining@gmail.com, and I would be happy to help you!

From the moment we signed up for Puppy Head Start training, Lilly was absolutely fantastic and incredibly communicative. She made sure all of our questions were answered, no matter how small.

During the two weeks that our little Saffy was with her, she made incredible progress! Lilly kept us in the loop with daily updates, including plenty of photos and videos.

Even after we brought Saffy home, Lilly was always available to help with any questions we had. The training program she provided was perfect for first-time dog parents like us.

If you’re looking for a trainer who truly cares about your dog’s development from day one, look no further than Lilly. Thank you for helping us bring home a confident, well-behaved puppy!
